SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Jordan Morrison scored in the third period to send the crowd to their feet, and thousands of teddy bears to the ice for the San Francisco Bulls’ first-ever Teddy Bear Toss. It wasn’t enough as the Bulls (9-13-1-2) lost to the Colorado Eagles (9-10-1-2), 5-1, Friday night at the Cow Palace.

The Eagles took a 1-0 advantage with 9:53 remaining in the first period. With Morrison and Kris Belan in the box for penalties, Chad Costello scored on the 5-on-3 power play. Costello’s 10th goal of the season was assisted by Kevin Ulanski and Jack Combs. Colorado out-shot the Bulls 11-4 in the first period.

Colorado extended its lead to 2-0 at 6:29 of the second period. The Eagles picked up their second power-play goal of the night with Belan in the box. Ryan Schnell scored his third goal of the season from Collin Bowman. Costello scored his second goal of the night with 4:16 remaining in the period to bring the score to 3-0. Costello’s 11th goal of the season was assisted by Jake Marto and Isaac Smeltzer. Colorado scored their third goal of the period with 1:14 remaining. Teegan Moore scored his second goal of the season from Kevin Ulanski to give Colorado a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.

The Bulls got on the board at 4:12 of the third period with Cody Sol in the penalty box for high-sticking. Morrison scored on the ensuing double-minor to make the score 4-1 and send thousands of teddy bears to the Cow Palace ice. Morrison’s seventh goal of the season was assisted by Dean Ouellet and Sacha Guimond. Colorado added a breakaway goal with 45 seconds remaining in the game from Schnell to seal the game for Colorado at 5-1.

The Bulls are back in action tomorrow night to take on the Eagles at 7:15 at the Cow Palace. The first 1,000 fans, 17 and under, receive a Rawhide Snow Globe.

Bulletins: The Bulls out-shot the Eagles 30-28…Jordan Clendenning, Jamie Devane and Kris Belan all engaged in fights for the Bulls….Taylor Nelson replaced Thomas Heemskerk in goal at the start of the third period…There were 48 combined penalty minutes…All of the stuffed animals collected will be delivered by Seton Medical Center to children in need.
