Love will be in the air at the Cow Palace on Wednesday, February 6, when the Bulls host the Las Vegas Wranglers for Wrangle a Date Wednesday. Fans at the game can participate in a Speed Dating Event and watch a Dating Game, matching a bachelor with one of three female contestants. And while the players on the ice will be battling it out, don’t be fooled by their aggressive behavior. Off of the ice they are as charming as anyone you’ll meet in the Bay Area. We sat down with a few of the Bulls players to fill us in on some of their most romantic dates on which they have been.
Forward Colin Reddin is from Newport Beach, California and has easy access to many interesting places, including the beach, the mountains and a whole host of attractions around the Los Angeles area, but it was a date outside of the state that he admits was most memorable.
“My girlfriend and I, not long ago during the off-season drove to Las Vegas for an overnight stay,” said Colin, who explained it’s a three-and-half hour drive to Sin City from his hometown. “We decided to go to Cirque de Soleil. It was an amazing show, and being able to share that experience with her was even more special. We only spent the night, but it was one of the best dates I’ve been on since being with her.”
Goaltender Thomas Heemskerk didn’t have go back very far to recall an eventful day with a member of the opposite sex. It took place in San Francisco less than a month ago.
“I know it’s a little cheesy, but I really enjoyed my commercial shoot at Stow Lake,” said Thomas, regarding the Wrangle a Date promo shoot he did in January. “It was such a nice setting being on the paddle boat, and it helped that I got to make-out many times with a very gorgeous woman. I know it was all acting, but it was a wonderful day.”

Up the coast into Canada, defenseman Cody Carlson discusses an ideal date he’s had a few times while in his hometown of Victoria. The capital of British Columbia is located on an island off the city of Vancouver.
“It’s such a nice city,” said Cody. “I like taking my girlfriend on what’s called the Scenic Route. It goes right through downtown, and ends up by the water. You stop at the pier and just hang out there during the summer. It’s as picturesque as you will find anywhere.”
And while nothing should be taken away from the dates described above, it’s hard to top the story of how someone pops THE QUESTION. Sharks prospect Marek Viedensky describes his New Year’s Eve story in San Francisco when he proposed to his now fiancée Ivanka.
“While she was here visiting, I wanted to make it a special New Year’s Eve because it was our four-year anniversary,” explained Marek. “She covered her eyes with a blindfold and I drove her across the Golden Gate Bridge up to the Marin Headlands. I had a friend set up a picnic for us overlooking the city just before it turned to midnight. She was absolutely stunned, and most importantly, she said ‘Yes!’”
Perhaps the single fans in attendance will find love at the Cow Palace on February 6. We hope you can wrangle a date, and live happily ever after.
