As we approach Christmas this year my wish is to see concussions minimized in our great game of hockey. I know the NHL has taken big steps in trying to prevent them but I think the biggest change that needs to be addressed is the equipment players wear under their jerseys.
Most of these guys are wearing shoulder pads and elbow pads that are huge, like bullet proof armor! It’s ridiculous. Guys are so much bigger, stronger and faster now, do they really need this much protection?
In the old days guys wore such small pads, barely any protection but just enough. I think the NHL has to regulate what guys wear. In my opinion this will help minimize head injuries.
Let’s get all these players back, healthy and take the necessary steps to keep them healthy. I love this game! Merry Christmas!
